Parabens are used in a wide variety of products like, deodorant, antiperspirant, shampoos, skincare moisturisers, toothpaste and even food. Parabens are suspect even in the best-case scenario. Why would we want to eat or rub parabens into our skin when we know they are not good for us?No Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, (SLS) This compound cannot be metabolised by the liver and is a known skin irritant, usually used for the foaming action in shampoos, if your scalp is itchy after shampooing it will most probably be because you have not rinsed out all the shampoo and a residue of (SLS) remains. It is used widely in skin preparations as an alternative preservative. Which may cause contact dermatitis and eczema in some people, the very thing we are trying to avoid.No animal product, Mineral oils or Petro Chemicals are used in Emotional Rescue Skincare. Mineral oils sit on top of the skin unable to penetrate, clogging pores, acting more as a barrier, stopping skin from breathing and is a distillate of petroleum. Mineral oil is chiefly a lubricant used in manufacture of cosmetics and in medicine as laxatives.

Contact dermatitis or Atopic dermatitis as it is sometimes known, is a term given for a dry inflammation of the skin, usually an allergic reaction to a substance that the skin has come into contact with. It is an external reaction rather than internal reaction, with contact dermatitis the initial exposure usually does not cause any problems, however the next exposure will cause a reaction, usually a rash or itch appearing on the parts of skin, which have been exposed. The immune system reacts and produces anti-bodies to fight this foreign substance which is often caused by artificial fragrance in soaps, shampoos, lotions, perfumes, animal hair, nylon fabrics, household cleaning products, even rubber, grass, some plants and food items. Eczema usually starts as a contact dermatitis and has taken a more sinister hold and is harder to treat, eczema often affects allergy prone individuals, and in some cases it combines with asthma. Eczema appears on the face, eyelids, behind the ears, in the creases of the groin, elbows, legs, back of knees. Eczema is very itchy and scratching can cause infection with herpes or wart viruses and Streptococcus (Strep) a common bacterium of the skin that causes strep throat, or a nasty skin infection called impetigo. Staphylococcus (Staph) is a common bacterium that lives on the skin or in the nose, which can cause soft tissue infections such as abscesses, or boils. Both bacteria’s can be difficult to treat. Eczema often appears in the first year of life and almost always in the first 5 years of life. Some grow out of eczema, but for many it remains, and severity varies from person to person. Stress is the most common cause, fast food diets, allergies, dairy products, infections, asthma, hay fever are all common triggers for recurring bouts of eczema. Lack of vitamin B5 in the body can be a contributing factor. Both contact dermatitis and eczema cause changes in the repair mechanism of how the skin works, the repair process is permanently activated, people with eczema generate skin faster than normal and the immune system of the skin is always malfunctioning. Standard treatment is the use of steroids such as hydrocortisone. Lullaby Baby has flower essences, which works on repair of cellular memory, a more gentle holistic approach. Lullaby Baby is in a lovely aqueous base, which includes; Sweet Almond Oil, a restorative, soothing oil that protects and nourishes skin while being highly nutritious. Pro-Vitamin B5, is also known as pantothenic acid, which is a member of the powerful B-complex vitamin family. It is a water binding substance that attracts and retains moisture. Pro-vitamin B5 stabilizes the skin barrier reducing the amount of water lost through the skin. Vitamin C, or known also as ascorbic acid, is an essential nutrient that operates in many different systems in the body.
